Recent researches says that RFID tags can be attacked by virus. Researchers say large companies which track goods and supply chains with these chips are particularly vulnerable. "RFID malware is a Pandora's box that has been gathering dust in the corners of our 'smart' warehouses and homes," the researchers said in the paper titled, "Is Your Cat Infected With a Computer Virus?".

What is RFID?
The radio frequency identity (RFID) tags are basically barcodes which has small amount computer memory, tiny processing unit and radio. So, it is very easy to write a Virus code onto the RFID chip. At the same time, commuincation experts didnot considered it as a virus source. Becasues it has only a tiny amount of memory.

Can RFID Tag Modify Back-End Software?
Researchers have also mentioned that the virus could spread through the scanning system to other luggage. "Everyone working on RFID Technology has tacitly assumed that the mere act of scanning an RFID tag cannot modify back-end software and certainly not in a malicious way. Unfortunately, they are wrong," the researchers Andrew Tanenbaum and his colleagues Melanie Rieback and Bruno Crispo warn in their paper.
